Front-runners in automotive engineering and medical technology - companies from Saitama, Japan

With a long history as a centre of precision engineering, the Japanese prefecture of Saitama and its capital of the same name are known to many Germans for hosting football and basketball games during the 2020 Summer Olympics, among other things. Located just 30 minutes by train north of Tokyo, Saitama is the gateway to the regions of eastern and northern Japan. In addition to an efficient local transport network, the bullet trains of six Shinkansen lines connect Saitama with the rest of the country, creating an ideally networked business location. Since 2014, the city has been linked by an MOU with two groups, namely: Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry(IHK) for Middle Franconia and Cluster Mechatronik & Automation and Forum MedTech Pharma e.V. and Bayern Innovativ to promote mutual business development. Since then, close cooperation has taken place in many areas via lecture events, business matchings, and mutual visits.

Saitama presents eight companies from the region in an advertisement in the April issue of the IHK magazine -"WiM".
The eight companies are as follows: TAMRON, Shibaura Electronics and Sumita Optical Glass, which already have a representative office in Germany, there is also the company Daiki, which sells products from Germany in Japan, and the companies Asahi Rubber and Origin, which have experienced lively interest in their technologies at trade fairs in Germany in recent years. Nippon Piston Ring and Fujikura Composites are also included on the list and they will be exhibitors from Saitama at stand 10-745 at MedtecLIVE, which will be held in Stuttgart from 3-5 May 2022!
